Slocum Pickell was born in Stuttgart, Arkansas. He graduated from Pine Bluff High School. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville, and is a graduate of the U of A Fayetteville Law School. While in law school, Slocum was the president of the Student Bar Association, was a member of the Moot Court Board, and was the winner of the American Bar Association's Client Counseling competition. Slocum has been an attorney since 1992. He has tried 46 jury trials to verdict and has tried hundreds of non-jury trials.

Ashton Pickell recently joined Pickell Law Firm, P.A. as an associate attorney. He is a graduate of Little Rock Central High School and attended and graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville with dual majors in History and German. Ashton is a 2021 graduate of the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville. While in law school, he participated in the law school's trial advocacy competition for two years. Additionally he clerked for the Hon. Doug Martin, Washington County Circuit Judge; clerked for the firm Miller, Butler, Schneider, Pawlik & Rozzell, PLLC in Rogers, Arkansas; and was an extern for the Arkansas Public Service Commission, performing legal research for staff attorneys at the Commission.
Ashton is active in the community. He is a member of the philanthropic Hat Club of Central Arkansas. He is also a deacon at Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock.
